The
current show at Myopic Books, Memory:Drawings, is
a selection of Leah Grear's recent drawings inspired
by nature. Drawn from memory, they record a semi-abstract
image of the natural world and explore relationships
beyond what can be seen, memories of feelings and
things in their spaces. Presented are mostly black
and white drawings using charcoal and horse's hair
to create stark linear compositions.
Leah Grear is a native of Providence, a 1988
graduate of the Printmaking and Painting program
at The Rhode Island School of Design and is currently
teaching Drawing and Printmaking at The Wheeler
School in Providence. She is one of the original
creators behind HopArts, a yearly community event
in Hope Valley connecting local artists to their
community through an open studio trail.
